Instructors


Stephen Smith

Steve is the Chief Instructor.  He holds a CFII certificate for both single and multi-engine aircraft. He has been an instructor for 38 years, teaching in several models of both single and multi-engine aircraft. In addition, he has had a career in experimental flight test both as an engineer and test pilot he has recently retired from  Aerosance, INC , a division of Continental Motors, where he was CEO and one of the original founders of that company.  There he was responsible for the development of the electronic engine control (FADEC) used in the Liberty XL2.  Steve founded Future Flyers of CT LLC in February of 2006.  He is available for flight instruction services by appointment either weekdays or weekends.

Ken Case

Ken is a part time instructor who prefers weekend appointments. He is currently an engineer at UTC’s Hamilton-Sundstrand Division. He has been a CFI since 2001 and has instructed in several different aircraft models at FFCT and other locations.

David Klau

David is a retired airpline Captain, originally with PanAM and later with American Airlines. Dave is is an ATP rated CFII and also holds a Flight Engineer rating. He is available by appointment and prefers primarily  weekdays.

Additional Instructors are available on an as needed basis.
